The International AIDS Conference, an international gathering of organizations, doctors, public health workers and those affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic, will be held in Washington DC in July 2012. The Conference is an opportunity for those working to end HIV/AIDS to share research and stories, and celebrate the progress made and plan for future work.
A press conference was held by the Mayor’s office on June 2 to announce of the conference and discuss upcoming plans to get the city ready for the big event.
During the meeting, Mayor Gray said, “I am pleased that this International AIDS Conference has chosen Washington, DC as host to this important and influential event. I call on every sector of the District of Columbia including the diplomatic community, federal government, local government, private industries, academic institutions, community activists and the residents of the District of Columbia to think creatively about how to support the conference.”
