There’s more than one way to wear a condom, as evidenced by this month’s plethora of fashion shows featuring clothes and accessories made of condoms!
Condom fashion shows have been popping up at University of Montana, Southern Illinois University, in Beijing and Ethiopia, just to name a few. The events feature dresses, hats, and other accessories made of condoms, with the goals of increasing awareness of the benefits of condom use, decreasing stigma around talking about condoms, and making condoms seem fun and fashionable.
What’s your take on these type of events? Do you think this is a good means of getting people thinking and talking about condom use? Or does it detract from the real issues of HIV and STDs, and how to effectively protect against them?
